In a Nutshell
After bitter waters at Marah, the Israelites found Elim—12 wells and 70 palm trees, a place of rest and refreshing. God is calling you out of striving and into His oasis of peace where His Spirit does the work.
Anchor Verse (NIV)
“Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve wells and seventy palm trees, and they camped there near the water.” – Exodus 15:27
Unpacking the Word
Eagles soar higher and farther than other birds not because they flap harder, but because they rest on the wind currents. They understand the secret of effortless flight—letting the wind do the work. Too many of us are like common birds, exhausting ourselves with frantic flapping while getting nowhere.
God is establishing places of spiritual rest in our lives. After seasons of bitterness and struggle, He brings us to our “Elim”—places where we can stop striving and start soaring. The 70 palm trees represent rest and refreshing, while the 12 wells speak of spiritual nourishment that never runs dry.
Faith in Action
What areas of your life are you “flapping frantically” instead of resting in God’s strength? Where is God calling you to stop striving and start trusting? Action Step: Identify one situation where you’ll choose to “rest on the wind” of God’s Spirit this week.
A Moment With God
“Holy Spirit, teach me to soar by resting in Your power rather than exhausting myself in my own strength. Amen.”
