In a Nutshell
You weren’t just rescued from hell to sit comfortably in heaven’s waiting room. What if your salvation came with an assignment that requires supernatural power? Today we discover that being saved is just the beginningโGod has work for you that demands His Spirit’s empowerment.
Anchor Verse (NIV)
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8
Unpacking the Word
We live in a world obsessed with purpose. People spend thousands on life coaches, quit jobs to “find themselves,” and chase meaning in career changes. Yet many Christians miss the most important assignment ever given: being witnesses. Not just church-goers or nice people, but empowered witnesses who demonstrate God’s reality through transformed lives.
The disciples had walked with Jesus for three years, witnessed miracles, and heard the greatest teachings ever spoken. Yet Jesus told them to waitโthey needed power first. If those who lived with Jesus needed supernatural empowerment, how much more do we? We can’t witness effectively in our own strength because authentic witness requires divine overflow, not human effort.
Faith in Action
- Am I trying to live the Christian life in my own strength instead of God’s power?
- Where do I need to stop “doing” and start “receiving” from the Holy Spirit?
Action Step:
Before attempting any ministry or witness opportunity this week, pray specifically for Holy Spirit empowerment.
A Moment With God
“Holy Spirit, I can’t be what You’ve called me to be without Your power. Fill me fresh today. Make me a witness not just in words, but in supernatural demonstration. Amen.”
