July 10: Thursday: “Heart Check ❤️🔍”

In a Nutshell

You can sing all the right songs, quote all the right verses, and attend all the right services, but if your heart isn’t right, your faith won’t work when it matters most. The question isn’t how much you know about God—it’s how much of God you actually know in your heart.

Anchor Verse (NIV)

“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?” – 2 Corinthians 13:5

Unpacking the Word

Paul wrote these challenging words to the Corinthian church—one of the most gifted, knowledgeable, and experienced congregations of his time. They had seen miracles, heard profound teaching, and witnessed God’s power firsthand. Yet Paul told them to examine themselves. Why? Because it’s possible to be around God’s presence without having God’s presence in you.

The heart is the control center of faith. Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Your heart reveals what you truly value, trust, and prioritize. You can fool others with religious activity, but you can’t fool God. He looks at the heart. When storms come, it’s not your head knowledge that sustains you—it’s the depth of your heart connection with God.

Faith in Action

  • If God examined my heart today, what would He find there?
  • Am I believing in God or just believing about God?
  • Action Step: Spend 10 minutes in complete honesty with God, asking Him to show you the true condition of your heart.

A Moment With God

“Search me, O God, and know my heart. Test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Amen.”You for every victory You’ve given me. Help me remember Your faithfulness and share Your goodness with others who need hope. Amen.”
