Anchor Verse:
Galatians 5:6 (ESV) “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.”
In a Nutshell:
Faith is powerful, but without love, it lacks effectiveness. Love is the evidence that our faith is genuine, and it fuels the way we live out our faith.
Unpacking the Word:
Many people think faith is about getting things from God, but true faith is about becoming more like Him. Scripture makes it clear: faith works through love. If love is absent, our faith is empty.
Think about a car engine. Faith is the engine, but love is the fuel. No matter how powerful the engine is, without fuel, it won’t move. When we operate in faith without love, our actions can become cold, legalistic, or self-serving. However, when our faith is motivated by love, it reflects the heart of God.
Jesus showed us the perfect example of faith working through love. He healed, forgave, and sacrificed—not for personal gain, but because He loved people. We are called to do the same. Our faith must compel us to love those around us, even when it’s difficult.
Pause and Reflect:
- Is your faith expressed through love, or is it focused only on personal gain?
- How can you demonstrate God’s love to someone today?
- Where is God calling you to step out in faith and serve others?
Faith in Action:
- Perform an act of kindness for someone today as an expression of your faith.
- Meditate on 1 Corinthians 13 and ask God to align your faith with His love.
- Pray for someone you find difficult to love.
A Moment With God:
Father, let my faith be fueled by love. Help me to see people through Your eyes and serve them with a heart that reflects You. Amen.
