June 6: Friday: “Forgetting Forward 🔄🆕”

In a Nutshell

There’s a time to remember and a time to forget. While we should remember God’s faithfulness, we must forget the failures and offenses that keep us stuck in the past. God is doing something new, but you have to let go of the old.

Anchor Verse (NIV)

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” – Isaiah 43:18-19

Unpacking the Word

You can’t drive forward while staring in the rearview mirror. Yet many people are stuck because they’re living in past hurts, past failures, past disappointments. They’ve made the past their permanent address when God has prepared a new future for them.

There’s wisdom in knowing what to remember and what to forget. Remember God’s faithfulness—forget past offenses. Remember His promises—forget past failures. Remember His love—forget others’ rejections. The “new thing” God wants to do in your life requires space that’s currently occupied by old hurts.

Faith in Action

What past offense or failure do you need to consciously “forget” to move forward? How is dwelling on yesterday preventing you from embracing tomorrow? Action Step: Write down one thing you’re ready to forgive and forget, then tear up the paper as a symbolic release.

A Moment With God

“Father, help me release the past that’s holding me back and embrace the new thing You’re doing in my life. Amen.”
