In a Nutshell
Do you feel a longing, a persistent tug in your spirit for something more? That yearning isn’t a burden, but a divine invitation to the very source of life. Today, we explore how cultivating a deep desire for God’s presence is the first crucial shift in a truly fulfilling spiritual journey.
Anchor Verse (NIV)
“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.” – Psalm 42:1
Unpacking the Word
Pastor Alvin powerfully opened by reminding us that a shift begins with a decision. Just as the early church physically moved to a new location, our spiritual lives require intentional movement towards God. Adam walked daily with God until the enemy sowed seeds of separation. This ancient tactic continues today, trying to distract us from the very presence our souls crave. Moses, leading a multitude, understood the paramount importance of God’s presence, declaring that without it, they should not move. This same desire should resonate within us.
Many of us have lost that initial fervor, that urgent need to be in God’s presence. We fill our time with countless activities, often leaving only scraps for the One who gives us life. But God invites us to boldly return, just as a loving father waits for his child. We must stir up that hunger again, recognizing our utter dependence on His presence for true meaning and purpose.
