July 17: Thursday: “When God Hits Pause ⏸️🙏”

You’re praying for God to change your external circumstances to give you internal peace. But what if He’s waiting for you to find peace in Him so you can have authority over your circumstances? Today we discover that peace isn’t the absence of problems—it’s the presence of the Prince of Peace.

Anchor Verse (NIV)

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – John 14:27

Unpacking the Word

Jesus slept in a storm not because there was no storm, but because His peace wasn’t dependent on weather conditions. His peace came from His relationship with the Father. When our peace depends on perfect circumstances, we’re constantly anxious because circumstances constantly change.

God wants to give you peace in the storm, not just after the storm. When you find your peace in Him rather than in your situation, you gain authority to pray over your circumstances. You can’t speak to mountains while you’re being moved by molehills. Peace isn’t passivity—it’s spiritual authority.

Faith in Action

  • What circumstances am I allowing to steal my peace?
  • How can I cultivate God’s peace regardless of my external situation?
  • Action Step: During your next stressful moment, pause and pray for God’s peace before trying to fix the problem.

A Moment With God

“Prince of Peace, anchor my soul in You, not in my circumstances. Let Your peace guard my heart and mind. Amen.”
